Great News for Edlesborough

Edlesborough Village has come second in the Defrane Cup for the Best Kept Village Competition run by Buckinghamshire County Council. Thank you to all parishioners and volunteers who made a special effort to keep the village tidy, who knows, if we keep up the good work, maybe next year we could win the Cup.

Cemetery Access

A new gate has been installed at the entrance to the Cemetery and the remainder of the bridleway resurfaced. Vehicular access to the Cemetery is restricted to the Hearse plus one following car, but the Cemetery is now much more accessible for pedestrians on level ground.

Traffic Calming

Council waiting for dates of Consultation.

Dagnall Recreational Track

The Track has now been completed and is being extensively used by all age groups.

Litter Bins

A Parishioner has kindly donated a black mesh litter bin situated on The Green and notices have been placed on all littler bins requesting that when possible litter is taken home. The litter around the villages is collected by Volunteers who also empty the bins. The Parish Council would be grateful for any parishioners who could assist. The bins are for general litter and not to be used for depositing personal household rubbish, newspapers etc.

Youth facilities on The Green

The Parish Council would welcome an approach from the teenagers of the village by suggesting what they would like to see on The Green (eg. A Kick Wall) Funding for equipment can be raised from the Buckinghamshire Youth Bank but this must be applied for by the youths themselves with assistance in completing an application form from the Parish Council.

Thank You from County Councillor Avril Davies

I’d like to thank everyone for the tremendous support given to me in the election. I have been returned as the County Councillor for Ivinghoe Division for the third time, with almost the same majority, but a smaller turnout this time. The two previous occasions coincided with the general election so more people voted. The County Council and District Council elections alternate every two years. For the County Council I represent ten villages (which include Edlesborough, Dagnall and Northall). For the District I just represent Ivinghoe and Pitstone. I particularly would like to thank everyone who sent me messages of congratulation, as they were so unexpected. Usually it takes a while for the results to become known, but with the Bucks County Council and Bucks Herald running such good websites, not to mention the village websites which are extremely well used, and dare I say it, Twitter. Communications are so much faster today. I got a lot of good ideas from talking to people during the campaign, and some very good ideas to take forward on a whole number of things. Standing for election isn’t very enjoyable, but this time I do feel the campaign has been positively invigorating.
